Marina Abramović. Transforming Energy
6 May 2026 – 19 October 2026
Location:
Gallerie dell’Accademia
Description:
Gallerie dell’Accademia hosts a major exhibition dedicated to Marina Abramović, a central figure in contemporary performance art. The project marks a significant moment for the museum, creating a direct dialogue between the artist’s radical language and the Venetian pictorial tradition.
The exhibition spans over fifty years of artistic research, presenting a selection of historical works alongside new productions conceived specifically for these spaces. At the core of Abramović’s work is the body as a tool for exploration and transformation, understood as a site of resistance, memory, and energy. Her works invite visitors to slow down, observe, and engage in an experience that goes beyond simple viewing.
The exhibition unfolds through installations, video works, and immersive environments that actively involve the visitor. In some cases, the audience is invited to participate directly, entering a more intimate and meditative dimension. Time, silence, and presence become essential elements of the experience.
The dialogue with the museum’s historical collection amplifies the meaning of the works, creating a connection between past and present. Themes of spirituality, discipline, and perception emerge strongly, offering a reflection on the relationship between the individual and space, and between inner energy and the external world. The result is an intense and engaging journey that invites visitors to reflect on the nature of artistic experience itself.
