Amar Kanwar
29 March 2026 – 10 January 2027
Location:
Palazzo Grassi
Description:
Palazzo Grassi presents a project dedicated to Amar Kanwar, an Indian artist and filmmaker known for his poetic and deeply reflective approach to social and political themes. The exhibition brings together two major multimedia installations that engage in dialogue, creating an immersive experience through images, sound and narrative.
Kanwar’s work moves between art, documentation and activism, exploring issues related to power, violence and forms of resistance. His installations build layered narratives that combine archival materials, testimonies and symbolic imagery, inviting a slow and contemplative viewing experience.
The exhibition connects a historical work with a more recent installation, creating a dialogue between past and present. On one side, it reflects on the struggle for democracy and acts of individual protest; on the other, it opens a more intimate and universal dimension, shaped by stories that move between reality and imagination.
Through visual and sound environments, Kanwar develops a subtle and evocative language, capable of addressing complex themes with sensitivity and depth. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on memory, justice and responsibility, offering a space for contemplation on the contemporary world.
